SMAC Board Meeting

Members present: Carrie, Ron, Jeff, Mark, Chuck, Cathy, Jim, and Dave

1. Minutes from the last meeting were approved with a few corrections.
2. Treasurer reported that renewal memberships are coming in at a good clip. Ron said he had received about 90 out of 290 renewal apps thus far.
3. David reported we have ordered 10 dozen socks and 12 new jackets. The jackets will now cost $65 each. A $160 downpayment has been made to Western Village.
4. Ron reviewed the schedule for renewals. He sends out three notices. If no response by March 1, he drops them from the membership list. He has about 40 drop but then gets 40 new or later renewals.
5. Ben was absent so there was no SUN report
6. Dave thought the website was going well, but Chuck wanted to see a functioning message board. David will let our web guy know this. ave noted that our website manager is working on a new site, and will show it sometime early next year. Jeff thought the web guy was very good.
7. The racing team has struggled to get going, but Barry thought (in an email) that there was a good showing at the Chocolate race in December.
8. Winter Track meets are definitely on for the 6th, 13th and 20th of January.
9. Jeff gave a comprehensive report on the Highland Park Run. The protectors of the property would like to see a $100 donation from the Club plus some help maintaining the route in the spring. We thought we could help.
10. The Jones 10-miler. Chuck and Cathy will work on volunteers in January. Carrie will work on food. There was much discussion about honoring our past secretary. We have a couple of ideas which we are working on. (This is said in a secretive manner in case he is reading these notes.)
11. The Annual meeting will take place on January 6th. The Woman’s Club has been reserved and paid for. The Most Outstanding Runner award was decided. David will order a plaque.
12. The Boston Lottery drawing occurred. There were 24 applicants. David will inform all of their success or non-success.
13. It was decided to have a Fun Run at 10 AM on New Year’s day in Montague, to make up for the fact that there will be no race that day.
14. Next meeting is January 23rd
